Be S.M.A.R.T. Online!
Be Safe
- Keep your personal information safe and secret. Think carefully before you share a photo of yourself or someone else!
- Keep your password a secret from other kids. Even friends could give your password away accidentally or use it in ways you don't want.
- Let your parents have your passwords.. or at the very least friend or follow you. They care about you and will help keep you safe!
Don't Meet Up
- Remember that people on the internet can (and often do) lie about who they are, including their name, age, and location.
- Never arrange to meet an online friend because it can be dangerous. No matter how well you think you know people, they might be pretending.
Accepting Emails Can Be Dangerous
- If you receive junk mail (spam), or messages which make you feel uncomfortable, tell an adult that you trust before deleting them.
- Do NOT reply to these messages!
Reliable?
- The internet is full of friendly people and amazing information. However, sometimes people might say or write things which are untrue, so you should always think carefully, or ask an adult, before trusting what you see or hear.
- Sometimes, complete strangers may say things to make you upset, annoyed, and even angry. These people are called "trolls," and trolls are like wild animals. If you feed the wild animal, they will keep coming back. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS! This means do not argue with these people (even if what they say is wrong and/or hurtful). Arguing "feeds" the troll, and makes them continue to bully.
Tell Someone!
- If you see or hear something that makes you uncomfortable or worried, tell an adult that you trust!

Help Your Friends
- When you see posts bullying someone, tell the bully to stop. Remind them that bullying isn't cool.
- Be a friend and support the people who are being bullied.
- If the bullying doesn't stop, tell a trusted adult! Doing nothing makes the bully think it's okay to treat others poorly.
